Candidate Videos 101: 📦 After Delivery
Congratulations! 🥳 Your video is edited, approved, and ready for the world. But clicking "export" is only half the battle. Now comes the most important part: making sure your investment actually moves the needle. Here is how to maximize your video’s impact after delivery.
How Did We Do?
First, we want to hear from you! How did the process go? Did we capture your vision? If you’re happy with your experience, please consider leaving us a review on Google.
Post More Than Once
When you’re ready to post, don’t just "set it and forget it."
Goal-Based Captions: Revisit the goals we established in the "Before You Film" stage. If your goal was fundraising, your caption should be a direct ask with a link. If it was an attack on an opponent’s record, your caption should reinforce that specific contrast.
Repetition is Good: The "one and done" approach doesn't work in a crowded newsfeed. Post your video multiple times. Different supporters are online at different hours, and it often takes seeing a message three or four times before it truly sinks in.
“Visibility” > “Viral”: Everyone wants to "go viral," but in politics, visibility is better than virality. Do not expect a video announcing your candidacy to get a million views—and frankly, you don’t need it to. You don't need a voter in California to see your video; you need the undecided voters in your district to see it. Focus on getting the right eyes on your content, not the most eyes.
Please Advertise!!!
Organic reach is limited. To truly get the word out, you need to utilize platforms like Meta (Facebook/Instagram), YouTube, and others to get more coverage.
Frequency Wins: It is much more effective for 5,000 likely voters to see your ad four times than for 20,000 random people to see it once.
Be Specific: Remember the goals we discussed before we filmed. Target the audience you’d like to reach. Don’t waste your budget on people who don’t need to hear your message.
Small Budget? Still Run Ads: I have worked with so many clients who have seen incredible success after simply putting $100 behind a post on Facebook. Will a small budget accomplish your goals fully? Not always, but when you are specific with your targeting, a small budget can go a long way.
A Note on Ad Verification: If you plan to run paid ads, act quickly. Platforms like Meta and Google require a rigorous "Political Authorization" process to verify your identity and committee. This can take days or even weeks to clear. Do not wait until the week before the election to start this process. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the technical side of ad placement or verification, contact us. We can help manage the targeting and placement to ensure your message hits the mark.
The Final Word
Your video is a tool in your arsenal. When used with a clear strategy and a focused ad spend, it can be the difference-maker on Election Night. We are proud of the work we’ve done together and can't wait to see it in action.
If you need help getting your message to the right audiences, you know where to reach us!
